Alistair Liddle

Alistair was born in Edinburgh in 1957. He should have gone to university to study Political History but, bored with academic education, joined the merchant navy as a deck cadet.

He stayed in the merchant navy for fifteen years, working on general cargo ships, bulk carriers, container ships and tankers, where he served as master (captain). When his daughter was born, he left the merchant navy to manage an aircraft fuelling facility at Newcastle Airport. Subsequent work in the oil and gas industry took him to Shetland, Humberside, the North Sea, London and the Republic of Georgia.

Alistair enjoys writing in all forms. No Harm Done, featuring Lieutenant Ramaz Donadze, is his debut novel and was shortlisted for the prestigious 2021 Bloody Scotland Debut Prize. His second highly anticipated novel in the Donadze series, No Way Back, was published in December 2021.

Alistair is married with two grown children and a granddaughter. His hobbies, when not writing, include playing guitar (badly), walking, cooking, and most recently, wild swimming in Scotland's beautiful lochs. After a lifetime of travel, Alistair has settled in Stirling, Scotland.
